Michael Tien, a Member of the Legislative Council from the Roundtable, said in a radio program today (Oct. 20) that the alignment of the East Kowloon line should be connected to Tseung Kwan O, and should not end at Po Tat only.
Previously, sources said the government would announce the development of the East Kowloon line in the Policy Address and plan to invite expressions of interest from operators through an open tender next year.
Tien noted that only when the two ends of the new line are connected to the Choi Hung Station of the Kwun Tong Line and the Tseung Kwan O Line's station can it truly serve the entire East Kowloon area.
He also said that by using dedicated rail technology, such as the Sky Shuttle system, the problem of the topography of the East Kowloon area can be overcome.
