Watch This | Inheriting Chinese culture overseas: Malaysia's '24 Festive Drums' promoted across world

Lim Shi Yu from Penang, Malaysia, recorded in her vlog the story of her middle school teacher surnamed Cheng who is an inheritor and innovator of the 24 Festive Drums.

The 24 Festive Drum performance was conceived by Malaysian musician Chen Huichong and poet Chen Zhaofan together in 1988. Combining the features of Guangdong lion drums and traditional Chinese calligraphy, the 24 Festive Drum performances are often grand and inspiring. In 2009, the piece was listed as Malaysia's national intangible cultural heritage.

The 24 solar terms mark the continuous cycle of time, while every drumbeat resembles the pulse of Chinese culture and the emotional resonance of ethnic Chinese across the world. Watch the video now to learn more about this unique art form.
