The University of Hong Kong (HKU) Council will set up a five-member task force to handle the complaint against Vice-Chancellor Zhang Xiang.
It would be most appropriate for HKU to handle the complaint in a fair and impartial manner based on the facts and without any speculation or personal conjecture, the Chief Executive, John Lee, who is also the Chancellor of HKU, said before attending the Executive Council meeting on Tuesday (Oct. 10).
He also hoped that the matter would be resolved as soon as possible, and he was confident that HKU would be able to deal with the internal management of the university well.
John Lee said that the University appointing a special person to investigate is an appropriate approach.
He pointed out that at this stage there should be no further speculation on the facts at this stage, and any other conjectures and allegations will not help the matter.
