Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee is set to announce the Policy Address on Oct. 25. Lee visited the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and interacted with students recently.
During his visit to HKUST on September 28th, John Lee communicated with foreign exchange students from different countries. He joined them for breakfast in the dormitories to learn about their lives in Hong Kong. Lee expressed his delight in knowing that the students enjoyed the education and working environment in Hong Kong, with many of them planning to stay and develop their careers in the city after graduation.
One South Korean student came to Hong Kong ten years ago as an international student pursuing an undergraduate degree. He found numerous opportunities in Hong Kong and decided to continue his studies there. He has since become a permanent resident of Hong Kong, pursuing a doctoral degree while simultaneously establishing a startup company achieving a fruitful balance between academia and entrepreneurship.
Lee emphasized that his visit to HKUST further reinforced his belief in Hong Kong's excellent educational infrastructure, internationally renowned universities, and exceptional scientific research talents. These advantageous conditions position Hong Kong as an international hub for higher education, attracting and nurturing overseas elite talents. He and his team will carefully study how Hong Kong can leverage its solid foundation to fully utilize its unique status under "one country, two systems," its internationalization, and its diversification advantages. Hong Kong govt aims to comprehensively attract outstanding talents from around the world, contributing to the nation's goal of becoming a powerhouse in education and talent development.
