The final day (Oct. 8) of the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games will witness the determination of three gold medals, including the artistic swimming free routine and karate women's individual and men's team kata events.
Representing Hong Kong on the closing day, the karate couple Cheng Tsz-man and Tsang Yee-ting will compete separately in the men's team kata and women's individual kumite -50kg events. Both athletes consider this as their "final blow" in the Asian Games and hope to conclude with a perfect note. Cheng will join the men's team kata first round with Hung Ho-wai and Tang Yu-hin.
In addition, the Hong Kong Artistic Swimming team will make their appearance at 10:00 a.m. today at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Swimming Hall. Team members including Chong Eva, Chu Ka-wing, Dulani Nandini, Hung Sze-ching, LEE Chi-yin, and Mok Ka-yan will compete in the team-free routine event, challenging teams from Thailand, Macau, Singapore, the national team, Japan, Kazakhstan, and North Korea.
As of yesterday, the Hong Kong team has secured a total of 53 medals at the Hangzhou Asian Games, including 8 gold, 16 silver, and 29 bronze. This surpasses the historical record of medals won by the Hong Kong team in previous Asian Games, and the gold medal count matches the all-time best achieved in the previous Jakarta Games.
