The Registration and Electoral Office (REO) is still studying whether to set up polling stations at boundary control points for the coming 2023 District Council Ordinary Election, which will be held on December 10.

Sources said that the authorities are conducting a preliminary study on setting up a "special polling station" in Sheung Shui to facilitate Hong Kong electors on the Mainland and even those who go north for consumption to cast their votes, and the proposal is at an early stage of study with no details finalized yet.

It is said that the authorities are considering setting up "special polling stations" at a few schools in the vicinity of the MTR Sheung Shui Station. In terms of the polling arrangements, the government may refer to the operation of the polling stations at the boundary control points in the previous Legislative Council General Election, e.g. pre-registration of voters. The views of the political parties on the proposal have been sought, but no details have been finalized at this stage.
