Wofoo Social Enterprises and other organizations collected more than 1,200 questionnaires named "Hong Kong Overall Happiness Index" on the Internet from July 18 to 23, surveying Hong Kong people's level of happiness and depression.
The survey, unfortunately, shows a score of 5.88 out of 10 for respondents, the lowest in nearly six years. People's mental health is also worse than that of last year, with about 30% of the respondents considering themselves mentally unhealthy, showing a year-on-year increase of 13%.
The results also show that people who have to take care of those who are chronically ill or in special need of their family members suffer a particularly poor mental health status, with a score of 5.31 only. The organizations suggested that the authorities should focus on the mental health of groups such as carers and the unemployed.
