From Sept. 27 to Jan. 8, 2024, the special exhibition "Gazing at Sanxingdui: New Archaeological Discoveries in Sichuan" will be on display in Gallery 8 at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, showcasing 120 antiquities, most of which come from a secret land.

The majority of the artifacts will be on display for the first time outside of Sichuan, and nearly half were discovered during the most recent excavations at the Sanxingdui archaeological site between 2020 and 2022.

The head curator of HKPM, Dr. Tianlong JIAO said that this exhibition is themed on "gazing" due to the artifacts are characterized by large eyes, which he expects through this, the audiences can think more and pay attention to the relevant key points.
As one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th century, the Sanxingdui findings in Sichuan are widely recognized. The exhibition takes audiences back to 3,000 to 5,000 years ago, to gaze at the magnificent civilization of it.

To accommodate the expected high visitor volume during the National Day Golden Week Holidays, HKPM will remain open on Oct. 3 (Tuesday), a typical museum closure day.
