Connie Talk EP8 | Henry Tan highlights commercialization of research results to boost emerging industries in HK

In this episode, Dr. Henry Tan, Vice Chairman and CEO of Luen Thai Group Ltd and CEO of the S.A.I Leisure Group Co Ltd, Member to the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Chairman of the Textile Council of Hong Kong gave a wealth of insights into corporate development and the preservation of industries and cultures.

In the past few years, the COVID-19 epidemic has affected many businesses and made recovery difficult. However, it has also provided new opportunities for those who can adapt to and grow from the changes. Dr. Tan pointed out that the use of new technologies is crucial to the development of contemporary businesses.

In HK, some well-established businesses often represent the good cultural heritage of the city. However, many are facing new challenges with the impact of IT and competition globally. Dr. Tan mentioned that one of the ways to preserve these businesses and cultures is to use the OEM capability and develop into design, doing ODM and OBM. At the same time, the power of technology plays an important role in raw materials and sales channels, which can further promote brands and expand product distribution.

In this interview, Dr. Tan also answered questions about emerging industries. He pointed out that emerging industries are characterized by innovation, high technology and rapid development. One of the ways to protect these industries and cultures is to enhance the commercialization of research results. Dr. Tan mentioned that there were already some successful cases of commercialization of research results in HK, which were achieved through technology transfer, establishment of partnerships and effective marketing.
