
The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department held the 71st International Meeting of Technical Authorities for Cableways (ITTAB) from September 17 to 21, and it was successfully finished today (Sept. 21).
During the ITTAB, Hong Kong delegates and cableway regulators from overseas and the Mainland exchanged views on administration and regulatory control over the safety of aerial ropeway and funicular systems through activities including working meetings, site visits, experience sharing and accident reviews.
The delegates discussed the latest technological developments and international standards for ropeway systems as well as the criteria for replacing key components of ropeways. HK delegates also shared their experience in the administration and regulation of aerial ropeways and funiculars with international cableway experts.
The ITTAB is an annual event organized by member jurisdictions. This year, HK hosted the ITTAB for the first time with the participation of 29 delegates from 13 overseas and Mainland jurisdictions.
