Watch This | 'Mama' from HK gives orphans home in Bangladesh
With a population of 160 million, Bangladesh is the eighth most populous country in the world. Its capital, Dhaka, also has a population of over 15 million. However, in the face of poverty and weakness, the problem of orphans and abandoned babies has plagued this "mega-city" to a great extent.
After 2013, Hong Kong entrepreneur Pauline Ngan took over the funding and management of an orphanage in Bangladesh.
The children who receive support from Ngan call her "Mama". "Every time she came to Bangladesh from China, she would visit the children, giving them fruit, beef, etc., and helping us in various ways.” The current director of the orphanage said.
On the day the journalist visited the orphanage, the children were playing a football game under the guidance of their teachers. Under the blue sky, on the green field, the children's chasing figures and blossoming smiles were rare and vivid. They were once orphans, but here they found a sense of home.
