The Hong Kong government has announced that it will set up the Asian Games Live Zone at designated sports centres in 18 districts to broadcast the competitions of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou.
The live zones will allow the public to enjoy the Asian Games' ambience and cheer for the athletes, the department explained.
On the Games' opening day on September 23, the department will hold a launch ceremony of the Asian Games Live Zone at the Kowloon Park Sports Centre's Secondary Hall at 6 p.m.
Local cycling and rowing athletes will share their experiences and perform sports demonstrations. Members of the public are welcome to join the ceremony and participate in the play-in sessions.
The Asian Games Live Zone, located at 36 designated sports centres, will be open from 8 p.m. that day.
Between September 24 and October 8, the live zones will be open from 8 am to 10:30 pm for the public to watch the competitions and support Hong Kong athletes together.
To further encourage the public to take part in sports while having fun watching the competitions, the department has set up a dedicated website which includes a series of Asian Games sports videos featuring elite athletes introducing and demonstrating sports skills.
