The Hong Kong authorities are actively making preparations for the promotion of the "night market economy," said Chief Executive Lee Ka-chiu on Tuesday (Sept. 5).
At a media session before the Executive Council meeting, Lee said that the Financial Secretary and Deputy Secretaries of Departments are now listening to different views and contacting different sectors, with many of them indicating that they will actively participate in the project.
Many shopping malls have offered to organize different kinds of diversified activities and offer concessions, as well as extending the business hours of shopping malls, the CE explained.
Lee said that there will be different activities held in various districts in the future, and that he has requested to finalize the plan as soon as possible, with a view to announcing the details next week.
The Executive Council resumed its weekly meeting today after an almost two-month summer adjournment.
