Since the resumption of quarantine-free travel between Hong Kong and the Mainland, the number of people passing through the ports has wildly surged.
Travelers are required to fill in an online health declaration form to generate a QR code, nicknamed the "black code" by many because of its color, which brings inconvenience to them. People from all walks of life in Hong Kong have repeatedly suggested canceling the "black code", but with little effect.
In response to the inquiry of a reporter from DotDotNews, the Office of Port of Entry and Exit of Shenzhen said that at present, the health declaration of Hong Kong and Macao travelers has been optimized, with the online declaration form greatly simplified. It is explained that the health declaration is a matter of the state, and the office has actively reported to the higher competent authorities.
For elderly people who don't know how to fill in the online form, the office said that on-site staff at the port can offer assistance.
According to statistics, from January 8 to August 6 this year, a total of 75.26 million inbound and outbound travelers arrived at Shenzhen land crossings, with an average of 358,400 per day, among whom 52,576,500 were Hong Kong residents, accounting for 70% of the total.
To deal with the large number of Hong Kong people moving north, the office has made improvements in many aspects like network construction, currency exchange and consumption guidelines.
