Prof. Liu Yong, Chief Physician of the Cardiology Department at Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital (Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences), who was also a member of the medical team that helped Hong Kong during the pandemic, expressed his hopes for future cooperation between Guangdong and HK in the medical sector.
"We will have a new beginning after the epidemic," Prof. Liu said, emphasizing that HK and mainland China should continue to improve medical collaboration in the Greater Bay Area and jointly nurture more medical talents.
He further stressed the need for health organizations in GBA to take advantage of geographic, linguistic, and resource advantages to foster collaboration and exchanges in health between the Mainland and HK and to participate in developing the Health Silk Road and global health governance.
In addition to his insights on cooperation, Prof. Liu also shared some tips on how to prevent cardiovascular disease. He underlined the need to maintain healthy lifestyle practices, including regular exercise, a balanced diet, and good sleep habits. He also suggested that patients get frequent physicals, manage their blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels, and abstain from dangerous behaviors like smoking and binge drinking.
