As of 8 a.m. today (July 24), Typhoon Doksuri had gathered about 590 kilometers east of Manila. The Hong Kong Observatory expects it to move northwestward with a speed of about 12 kilometers per hour, crossing the waters east of Luzon and gradually intensifying.
Speaking on a radio program this morning, Acting Senior Scientific Officer Lam Hok-yin said that Doksuri is expected to enter the 800-kilometer warning area of Hong Kong on Wednesday (July 26) and that depending on its distance from HKand its impact, the Observatory will decide whether it is necessary to issue a tropical cyclone warning signal.
Lam also stressed that Doksuri will move towards Luzon in the next couple of days and gradually intensify, approaching the southern part of Taiwan, and may also move towards the eastern coast of Guangdong.
Under the influence of its peripheral subsidence, the weather in HK will be very hot in the next few days, but the high temperature may also trigger sudden rainstorms and thunderstorms; however, if the typhoon moves to the west, the impact on HK's weather will be greater.
