HK property sales up 30% in H1

The Land Registry of Hong Kong recorded 34,882 sale and purchase agreements for all building units received for registration in the first half of 2023, up 30 percent compared with the second half of 2022 and 6.1 percent higher year-on-year.

The total consideration for such agreements rose 14 percent from the second half of 2022 to HK$239.16 billion ($30.6 billion) in the first half of 2023, while a 1.4 percent year-on-year decrease was recorded, according to Land Registry data released on Wednesday.

The number of assignments of building units from January to June reached 48,685, up 18.3 percent compared with the second half of 2022, and 8.6 percent higher year-on-year.

The total consideration for these assignments for the first six months of the year was HK$321.64 billion, down 6 percent from the last six months of 2022 and also 7.9 percent lower year-on-year.

There were 2,348,724 land register searches in the first half of the year.
