BBC reported German archaeologists have discovered an incredibly well-preserved Bronze Age sword that is more than 3,000 years old.

The octagonal-hilted bronze sword was discovered in a burial in the southern town of Nördlingen. It's believed to date back to the late 14th century BC.

According to Bavaria's State Office for Monument Protection (BLfD), its condition is so good that "it almost still shines."

The cemetery also has other bronze objects and the remains of a man, wife, and boy.

The relationship between the three is unclear to the archaeologists, and the discovery's rarity raises concerns regarding the sword's lineage.

The BLfD claims that because the hilt was cast onto the blade, making such a sword was challenging. Although it doesn't appear that the Nördlingen sword was ever used in a fight, it was likely an actual weapon and not simply something to look at.
