Chief Executive John Lee and National Academy of Governance (NAG) Executive Vice President in charge of daily operations Xie Chuntao today witnessed the signing of the Agreement on the Dedicated National Studies Programme for Senior Directorate Civil Servants between the Civil Service Bureau and the NAG.

In addition to enhancing participants' knowledge about the country's policies of governance, political system and formulation of important policies, the dedicated programme also aims to strengthen their communication and contact with senior Mainland officials.

The programme, which will be held in the Mainland, includes lectures and field trips that cover the Constitution, the Basic Law, safeguarding national security and the country's latest policies and developments.

The pact was signed by Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service Clement Leung and NAG International & Hong Kong & Macau Training Center Director-General Xie Yutong.

Additionally, the bureau invited Mr Xie to give a talk titled "The Communist Party of China & the Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation". It was attended by the Chief Executive and around 350 senior officials of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.

Mr Lee thanked the academy for giving strong support to the Hong Kong SAR Government's training work and stressed that the talk enabled the officials to have a deeper understanding of the CPC's governance philosophy and mission, and a more accurate appreciation of the country's policies of governance.

The Chief Executive pointed out that to effectively perform their duties, civil servants must understand the country and fully appreciate the CPC's leadership role and mission.

Mr Lee added that he expects the attending officials to better leverage the city's distinctive advantages under "one country, two systems" in order to better serve Hong Kong and the country, and contribute to the realisation of the Chinese nation's great rejuvenation.
