Trump is seeking a second term as US president. He is said to be outpolling his Republican rivals. Another Trump presidency looms. He split America down the middle during his first term. In the second, he will finish the job of tearing it asunder. The Trump snake cult is a big puzzle. Whatever his misdeeds, his cultists want more of their orange daddy. Except his new candidacy oozes an ominous sense of the apocalypse.
Trumpism is fiery extremism. To borrow the words of the late US Vice President Spiro Agnew, he is a grenade-throwing "nabob of negativity"
Shamelessly, Trump is boasting that had he been in the White House, there would have been no Ukraine war. He is right about that, but that is not because of his prowess as a peace-maker, but because he is living permanently in Putin's pocket. With Trump in charge, Putin doesn't need to lift a finger to wrestle with the West, as his proxy will do the job of eviscerating the western alliance. The catatonic Donald Trump is Putin's best guarantee for world domination. He will never make America great again, but he is sure to make Russia great again under his puppet master.
A country stupid enough to elect Trump president deserves to descend into decline. Semi-literate, bombastic, and egocentric, his vocabulary is limited to tiresome throwaway words such as "hoax", "fake news" and "witch hunt". He traffics in conspiracy theories and dishes out brutal personal insults. His language, utterly unpresidential, belongs to the gutter and the brothel, blabbing about "grabbing pussies" and shooting people on Fifth Avenue. It is truly mind-boggling that out of the mouth of a mighty US president comes words that would have torpedoed any other politician, never mind the high-minded occupant of the White House. Twice-impeached and indicted on 41 felony crimes, Trump's depravity is proof of how low the US has sunk. Once in a century or two, the world produces a monster or two who threatens to end human history. This time, if Trump does return to the White House, the curtain will finally come down on the American era with the world fully ablaze.
Trump is a curiously Teflon politician. His notoriety and criminality only seem to energize his base. It is a political phenomenon never before seen in America, that you can actually profit from your amorality and criminality, with his cultists indulging his narcissism by opening their wallets to fatten his bank accounts for whatever nefarious purposes. Trump is transparently selfish. He doesn't give a hoot about his people or his country. It is all about the Donald. Extremism has a curious effect, the more outrageous his conspiracy theories, the greater their gratification and gullibility.
From the Chinese perspective, Trump is the first US president who tries to rain out China's parade. He is out to do China harm, viciously weaponizing his anti-China hysteria for political gain.
But salvation may be on the way as Trump now faces his day of reckoning with news that his indictment is imminent. Judgment cometh. Be afraid, Donnie, be very afraid. At last, moldy Alcatraz is getting ready for Trump's long-awaited residency. Oversexed Inmate No. 1 may soon enjoy his sexual fantasies in solitary confinement. That should be a moment for this infamous penitentiary to break out its best bottle of champagne, for it would make history by being the only prison to house a convicted former US president. Just imagine: the big bad orange daddy in a big, ugly orange jumpsuit. Trump will look mortal, but Alcatraz would become truly immortal.
