LD to hold Youth Recruitment Day with 2,000 vacancies provided for young job seekers

The Labour Department (LD) will hold the Youth Recruitment Day@Youth Employment and Training Programme on June 1 for young school leavers aged 15 to 24 with educational attainment at sub-degree level or below.

The recruitment event will be held at Southorn Stadium. A total of 30 organisations from various industries including transport, hotels, banking, theme parks, public services, retail, catering and property management will join the recruitment event, providing over 2,000 full-time and part-time on-the-job training vacancies for young job seekers.

The job vacancies cover a wide variety of positions such as bank counter services officer trainee, aircraft maintenance mechanic trainee, barista, tea bartender, customer service officer, ride and attractions host, operations assistant, assistant clubhouse officer, etc. Most of the full-time vacancies offer monthly salaries from HK$11,000 to HK$18,000 and do not require relevant work experience from applicants. Job seekers aged 15 to 24 with education attainment at sub-degree level or below are welcome to submit applications on the spot. They may be invited for on-site interviews.

The LD will set up booths introducing the Youth Employment and Training Programme (YETP), including its workplace attachment, various special employment projects, on-the-job training vacancies of the LD, etc. Eligible applicants can join the YETP on-site. Various service providers will assist them to select and enrol in suitable training courses. They will also provide career consultation and offer advice on resume preparation for job seekers.

The recruitment event also features career talks on the prospects and characteristics of different industries. Hong Kong boxer Rex Tso and pop singer Kaho Hung will give talks to share their athletic and performing arts career stories respectively to encourage young people to pursue their career goals with perseverance and determination. The session will be conducted in Cantonese. Seats will be available on first-come, first-served basis.
