Wang Wentao meets with U.S. Secretary of Commerce and Trade Representative on China-U.S. economic and trade relations
From May 25 to May 26, China's Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai during the APEC Trade Ministers' Meeting in the U.S. city of Detroit and held talks with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo in Washington DC.
The two sides conducted candid, practical and in-depth exchanges on China-U.S. economic and trade relations and regional and multilateral issues of common concern. The Chinese side raised concerns on key issues such as the U.S. economic and trade policy toward China, Taiwan-related issues in the economic and trade field, the Indo-Pacific economic framework, and Section 301 tariffs.
On regional and international problems of shared interest as well as China-U.S. economic and trade relations, the two sides had open, practical, and in-depth discussions. The Chinese side expressed concerns on important issues like Section 301 tariffs, Taiwan-related trade and economic difficulties, U.S. economic and trade policy toward China, and the Indo-Pacific economic framework.
The two sides agreed to continue to maintain communication.
During talks with U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina M. Raimondo in Washington on Thursday, Wang also expressed key concerns over U.S. policies on economy and trade with China, and semiconductors, as well as issues concerning export control and outbound investments review.
