The Legislative Council met today (April 20) to discuss improving the performance of public transport services.
LegCo Member Gary Zhang Xinyu said there is a lack of indicators to monitor the performance of public transport services.
Zhang cited the MTR as an example, saying that the punctuality rate is not enough to reflect the service level, and the government needs to introduce the number of people affected by the delay as an indicator to assess the MTR's service performance.
"The longer the delay, the more people will be affected, so the number of people can directly reflect the results of the incident, and the annual data can also be directly compared, which can help monitor the annual performance of MTR," he added.
Zhang also criticized the government for refusing to provide data on the number of passengers carried at each MTR station, and for not having clear guidelines on when to make the investigation report public after an incident.
