The recent chaotic situation of low-cost tour groups from the Mainland has not only failed to provide quality services to tourists but also affected local residents in Hong Kong.
The Chief Executive, John Lee Ka-chiu, said in a press conference today (March 28) that the incident involved the management of tour groups, saying that after HK's full resumption to normalcy, the economy and development should be pursued, and as an open and tolerant city, HK welcomes the arrival of tourists, who are very important to stimulate the economy and create employment.
"Now HK is in the initial stage of recovery, so the management of tour groups needs good planning measures and management system," he noted.
According to Lee, the Cultural, Sports and Tourism Bureau and the Travel Industry Authority should come up with good solutions to deal with the problems brought by tourists to the community, so that tourism development can both be sustainable and create a good experience for tourists.
