The Chief Executive, John Lee, told a press briefing before the Executive Council meeting today (Feb. 28) that the mask-wearing rules will be lifted tomorrow (Mar. 1), including no need to wear a mask indoors, outdoors and in public transport.

In a telephone interview, Legislative Council member Erik Yim Kong said that the full lifting of the mask-wearing rules means the end of the social distancing measure, and also marks the formal development of Hong Kong into a new stage of rapid and sustainable development.

Yim expects all sectors of the community to work together for economic development, and to work for the benefit of the people in sustainable development and prosperity, so as to fundamentally change the housing situation of the people and create a new HK where people can live and work in peace and happiness.

"In the face of the strong competitive pressure from other cities in the Guangdong-HK-Macao Bay Area (GBA), HK must have a sense of urgency, a sense of pressure, and a sense of mission, and work hard to catch up," said Yim.

According to Yim, HK needs to demonstrate the great advantages of "one country, two systems", and to provide the public with more substantial benefits in the development.

"The greatest contribution to the development of the country and the rise of the nation is to let the people live a good and happy life," Yim added.
