Its history with ceramics stretches back to the Han Dynasty (202 BC-220 AD), and the Song Dynasty (960-1279) is when the skill of the local artists reached its height. More than 2,000 years have passed since the origin of pottery culture.

Jingdezhen porcelain is supposed to be "white as jade, bright as a mirror, thin as paper, and sounds like a bell," according to some. The art of Jingdezhen porcelain is often regarded as a jewel of Chinese culture due to its intricate forms and advanced processes.

Currently, Jingdezhen is a well-liked tourist attraction that draws visitors from domestic and foreign countries to experience its cultural charms and get their hands dirty producing pottery.

Yaoli is a historic town that was constructed in the late West Han Dynasty. Its name translates to "within the kiln of ceramic production" (202 BC-8 AD). Kaolin, a unique kind of clay used to make porcelain, is abundant there, making it the renowned birthplace of Jingdezhen ceramics.
