Eric Chan Kwok-ki: 280,000 people went through immigration yesterday
Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland yesterday (Feb. 6) achieved full cross-boundary travels. The Acting Chief Executive, Eric Chan Kwok-ki, said at a press conference before attending the Executive Council meeting today (Feb. 7) that the operation on the first day of the resumption of the free cross-boundary travel is smooth, and a total of 280,000 passengers crossed the boundary yesterday, with half of them exiting and half of them entering.
Chan stressed that there are a lot of issues to pay close attention to, and the biggest challenge is that the boundary crossing will be more crowded on weekends, and more staff will be deployed to safeguard the operation.
