The Chinese New Year is approaching. A large number of people are going back to the Chinese mainland for the New Year today (Jan. 20), causing congestion at the Futian Port, which has implemented crowd control measures.
Around 9:00 this morning, the process of passengers crossing the boundary at Futian was quite smooth. However, by about 12:00 noon, the flow of people at the control point increased significantly.
East Rail Line passengers had to wait in line, with the longest line reaching more than 10 meters.
Inside the lobby of MTR Lok Ma Chau Station, a public announcement was made to remind passengers that pedestrian flow control was in effect at the hall and that passengers should wait.
