The ferry service from Shekou Port in Shenzhen to Hong Kong and Macao Ferry Terminal arrived in Hong Kong at 8:20 a.m. today (Jan. 8), and the ferry to Shekou Port in Shenzhen also set sail at 9:00 a.m., marking the official resumption of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong ferry route, which has been out of service for three years.
This morning, a total of 280 passengers boarded the ship from Hong Kong to the Mainland, including mainland workers and students in Hong Kong, individual business passengers and expatriates.
According to the operator, the ferry will operate twice a day for the time being, and will be adjusted to increase the frequency at any time according to the policy of the relevant departments and the needs of the public.
Also today, hundreds of travelers flocked to Macao as Hong Kong-Macau Ferry services resumed for the first time in three years.
The first batch of around 130 passengers from Hong Kong arrived at the Taipa Ferry Terminal shortly before 8.30 am.
Around 50 passengers took the first ferry from Macau to Hong Kong at 9am, with some saying they wanted to enjoy some sightseeing over the holidays.
Currently, ferries from Hong Kong to Macau are only allowed to stop at the Taipa Ferry Terminal.
Macau authorities said at least 1,500 people had made reservations for ferry services on Sunday.
