Hospital Authority today (Jan. 2) said, facing the winter service peak, the Accident & Emergency (A&E) waiting time will be longer and the service is expected to continue to be busy in the next few days.
According to HA, it has deployed its staff to cope with the winter service peak.
The Chairman of the HA Central Coordinating Committee (A&E), Dr. Tsui Sik-hon, said that in the past few days, an average of more than 4,000 people visited the A&E departments daily, and about 1,000 people were admitted to medical wards, with the utilization rate of medical beds in each public hospital reaching 115%, and even 130% in some cases.
Dr. Tsui called on people with mild conditions to seek treatment from private doctors or private hospitals.
