Legislative Council member Michael Tien told HK media today (Dec. 22) that the MTR has received notice that the high-speed rail services in HK will be ready for resumption at any time, and it is estimated that quarantine-free travel with the Mainland will be resumed in early January, without having to wait until after the Chinese New Year.
Tien said that the Hong Kong side has received notice that the high-speed rail will be ready to open at any time, indicating that all parties are getting ready for boundary reopening.
He added that the recent change in attitude of officials of the two places towards COVID-19 has further released positive signals towards early reopening of the borders.
