A memorial meeting for Jiang Zemin, who passed away on Nov. 30 at the age of 96, was held Tuesday morning in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
At the HKSAR Government Headquarters, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu, a number of heads of Departments and Bureaux and members of the Executive Council, dressed in dark or plain clothes, watched the live broadcast of the memorial service, during which all paid a three-minute silent tribute to the late leader. In the ground floor lobby of the Legislative Council Complex, Chairman Andrew Leung led Members to join the silent mourning and watch the memorial meeting.
The Home Affairs Department opened designated venues in 18 districts for the public to watch the live broadcast of the memorial service.
