Hong Kong's Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said today (Oct. 18) that discussions with the Mainland on the "reverse quarantine" arrangement are still underway.

Speaking at a media session before the Executive Council meeting, Lee said that the SAR government will adopt the standards set up by the mainland authorities on "closed-loop" management, and that the two sides are still discussing more details including the CT standards for nuclear acid tests.

Lee stressed that people who have gone through this pre-departure quarantine shall not pose extra risks on the mainland side because the standard has been made in accordance with the mainland standard.

"But of course, this is a new arrangement, and it has been tested before. So there will be things that we need to discuss in detail," the CE added. "So we are very committed to trying to work out a solution."

Lee said that the SAR government will continue working hard to contain the epidemic while allowing society to go about normal activities.
