Speaking at a press conference on the epidemic today (Sept. 19), Dr. Albert Au Ka-wing, principal medical and health officer of the Centre for Health Protection, said the government will review a number of factors to decide whether to relax the anti-virus measures.
There may be room for relaxation if the situation is steadily improving, with fewer cases and less burden on the public hospital system, he added.
Au also reiterated that vaccination is an important measure to control the epidemic.
As for the control on the imported cases, Au said that there are stringent and frequent testing requirements for overseas arrivals in order to detect patients early, and the government will decide on the next step depending on the data.
He mentioned that some people were diagnosed only after they left the quarantine hotel, which he thought was within expectation.
