EyE on U | Bearing its mission, HKHS strives to provide decent, affordable homes to HK people: James Chan

The Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) was set up in response to the challenges of the times 75 years ago. In the business of housing development, the Society has always strived to provide quality housing services for the community.

Over the years, the HKHS has built its brand of quality homes and pioneering projects, including landmark examples of rental estates, subsidized sale flats, elderly housing, and transitional housing schemes.

In this episode of EyE on U, we are glad to invite James Chan Yum-min, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the Hong Kong Housing Society, to share with us the housing issues that the public is most concerned about, and how the HKHS has overcome these difficulties to help the general public solve their housing problems in the face of the epidemic and economic challenges in the past two years.

As Hong Kong Housing Society takes its mission forward, a significant challenge facing the Hong Kong community is looking for land resources. While constantly looking for new development sites, the HKHS has also formulated strategies to optimize the use of existing land resources further and to build socially sustainable housing projects for the community.

Why is HKHS called the "housing lab" of HK? What are its purpose and mission? What types of housing projects and services have the Housing Society introduced at different times to answer the call of the public? How does Chan envision the future of housing in HK? Watch the video now to find out the answers!
