Hong Kong's Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Sun Dong said that under the new "3+4" quarantine policy for inbound travelers, the “Leave Home Safe” will be updated accordingly. Those infected will be issued a red code automatically, while those under medical surveillance at home will get a yellow code.
Speaking at a press conference Monday (August 8), Sun said that incoming travelers will be required to download the app when they arrive in the city. The app has been downloaded 8.4 million times, and used by 133,000 businesses, he added.

At the same media session, Health Secretary Lo Chung-mau said that a two-color code system will be incorporated into the updated version of the app. A red code will be given to all infected patients, while incoming travelers will get a yellow code until they finish the "3+4" quarantine period.
If a traveler tests negative via PCR screening on the third day, he or she will be allowed to leave their designated hotel at 9 am the next morning and start their home medical surveillance.
During the four days of self-isolation, they will be allowed to leave their home or hotels, but not to enter places that require "Leave Home Safe" app verification, such as restaurants and bars.
They are also banned from entering high-risk places such as elderly homes, schools, homes for disabled persons and designated medical venues, as well as from joining any mask-off activities.
