Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu will attend the first "Ante-Chamber chat" with the Legislative Council members on Wednesday (July 13) from 9:30 am to 11 am.
Speaking at a media session today, Lee said that the first meeting will be attended by himself, along with three department secretaries and their deputies, and the director of the Chief Executive's Office.
He added that the exchange session in the LegCo Ante Chamber is just the starting point, and he hopes that there will be a permanent mechanism to help mutual understanding and exchange between the executive and the legislature.
The President of the Legislative Council, Andrew Leung Kwan-yuen, has indicated via a spokesperson that he believes face-to-face and constant exchanges will help the executive and the legislature establish a closer collaborative relationship, especially when the government can listen to the views of legislators at the policy incubation stage and understand the voices of the public.
