Hong Kong women's badminton player Tse Ying-suet and her mixed doubles partner Tang Chun-man withdrew from the Indonesia Open, which starts on Tuesday (June 14), due to the infection of COVID-19.
Tse and her mixed doubles partner had no choice but to withdraw from the Indonesia Open after her diagnosis, she said on her personal social media site.
According to Tse, the Hong Kong team had chosen to eat at a shopping mall near the hotel because a number of teams had gotten food poisoning after eating at the hotel. They wore masks every time they went out and took steps to sterilize their food before eating.
However, she started to suffer from sore throat, muscle pain and belly pain in the last eight of the Indonesia Masters, then a few days later she was diagnosed.
Tse is expected to return to action at the Malaysia Open at the end of the month.
