A total of 148 business and political heavyweights will provide advice to chief executive candidate John Lee Ka-chiu's election campaign, according to a list Lee released on Tuesday (April 19) on a social media platform.
The star-studded team comprised a 90-member presidium and 58 consultants.
The presidium includes Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Standing Committee members Henry Tang Ying-yen and Anthony Wu Ting-yuk; Executive Council members Bernard Charnwut Chan and Ronny Tong Ka-wah; former director of public prosecutions Grenville Cross; and several lawmakers.
Consultants include business tycoons Li Ka-shing, Lee Shau-kee, Kuok Hock-nien, Woo Kwong-ching and Gordon Wu Ying-sheung; financial leaders Cha Shih May-lung and Yam Chi-kwong; retired judge of the Court of Final Appeal Henry Litton; and Tsui Lap-Chee, founding president of the Hong Kong Academy of Sciences.
Tam Yiu-chung, director of Lee's election campaign office, said on Wednesday that the campaign will carefully listen to suggestions put forward by the 148 heavyweights.
Tam said Lee aims to announce his political platform at the end of this month. He will reduce election activities and concentrate on drafting the document in the following days.
