About 6.3 million Hong Kong residents are set to receive HK$5,000 e-vouchers today (April 7) under the 2022 Consumption Voucher Scheme.

People using accounts of AlipayHK, Tap & Go or WeChat Pay HK will get the full amount while those who use Octopus cards will get theirs in two installments.

Octopus users will get the first HK$4,000 voucher by tapping their card on April 7 at Subsidy Collection Points of the Public Transport Fare Subsidy Scheme, designated convenience stores and supermarkets, and Octopus Service Points.

When the card user's total "eligible spending" reaches HK$4,000 between May to October, the remaining amount of HK$1,000 will be disbursed on the 16th day of the following month.

The user's "eligible spending" has to reach HK$4,000 by the end of October so that he could collect the last voucher by Nov 16.

The latest round of the e-voucher program will last seven months, or two months longer than last year's, which was valid for five months. It is expected to cost the government about HK$66.4 billion and is projected to boost Hong Kong's GDP by 1.7 percent.
