Speaking at a government high-level press conference today (March 25), the Chief Executive, Carrie Lam, said that the Mainland medical team, which was sent by the Central Government to assist Hong Kong and includes nearly 400 members, have never got any salaries and is now working with the Hospital Authority at the AWE to treat patients day and night.
Lam said that, as for the care workers from the Mainland that were recruited in the market through mainland labour companies under the imported labour scheme, they are taking care of the elderly in temporary care centres and residential care homes, and the salary offered is about HK$30,000 per month. This is tantamount to the private care homes' recruitment of mainland employees under the Government's relaxed imported labour scheme.
