In response to a rumour circulating on social media platforms that the Licensing Offices of the Transport Department (TD) will close in April and re-open in May, a TD spokesman said on Monday (March 7) that this is absolutely unfounded and that the content of the concerned message is totally fabricated.
"In view of the severity of the epidemic situation, we should fight the disease together. Members of the public should not be misled by fake news, nor should they spread any rumour," the spokesman said.
The Licensing Offices of the TD currently continue to provide counter services for applications submitted by applicants with online appointments. Members of the public may also submit applications by post, online, or via the drop-in boxes placed at the Licensing Offices.
The TD reminded members of the public to submit applications three to four weeks before the expiry dates as far as practicable to avoid delay.
