Hong Kong's Secretary for Food and Health Chan Siu-chee said in a media interview today (Feb. 1) that the dynamic zero-infection policy is an essential condition for boundary reopening with the Mainland.
Chan said that the government's goal is to keep up with the epidemic prevention and control measures practiced in the Mainland so as to achieve dynamic zero infection.
"Some other countries are following the path of coexistence with the virus, despite the fact that hundreds of thousands of cases are reported a day, overburdening the local medical system."
She said that when the first-jab vaccination rate in HK reaches 90%, consideration can be given to relaxing the social distancing rules based on the vaccine pass policy.
