Not An Outsider EP4 | Russian Merited Artist witnesses 'China speed': All I have is admiration

As a Russian Merited Artist over 70 years old, Ivan Danilov has a unique passion for China. Since 2005, Danilov has been coming all the way from Russia to China to paint his works four times annually. In Harbin, he has already created more than 300 oil paintings.

When Danilov visited China for the first time, he was surprised at the Harbin train station. "It is a very big train station, and Harbin is a very big city, very clean and very beautiful, which is quite refreshing for me," said Danilov.

Under his brush, Chinese culture is well presented in Russian oil paintings. He couldn't stop praising China's beauty and antiquity while always getting stunned by the country's rapid development.

"On the right bank of the Songhua River where I live, there used to be very few buildings. But once in a while, I found that new beautiful buildings had been built. For instance, it only took a year to build the Songhua River Bridge. And I saw the Harbin subway getting built almost in a flash. Nowadays, Jiangbei also has its subway station," said Danilov, with sparks in his eyes.

As a perfect witness of "China speed", Danilov exclaimed, "All I have for China is admiration."
