Home Affairs Department: 24 temporary shelters opened as Typhoon Kompasu sweeps HK
The No. 8 Northeast Gale or Storm Signal issued by the Hong Kong Observatory on Tuesday (Oct. 12) remains in force.
The Home Affairs Department has so far opened 24 temporary shelters in various districts and 247 people have sought refuge at the shelters.
As of 2 p.m. today (Oct. 13), the 1823 Government Call Centre has received 58 reports of fallen trees. The Drainage Services Department has received nine confirmed flooding cases. No reports of landslide have been received so far.
According to the Hospital Authority, as of 2:45 p.m. today, 16 people (nine men and seven women) have been injured during the typhoon period and received medical treatment at the Accident and Emergency Department of public hospitals. Among them, one man has died.
