Chan Chak-ming elected as law society president

The Council of The Law Society of Hong Kong elected C.M. Chan as President, while Amirali B. Nasir, Roden M.L. Tong and Christopher K.K. Yu as Vice-Presidents for the term 2021/22 at its meeting on Tuesday (Aug. 31).

The Council of The Law Society of Hong Kong elected C.M. Chan as President, while Amirali B. Nasir, Roden M.L. Tong and Christopher K.K. Yu as Vice-Presidents for the term 2021/22 at its meeting on Tuesday (Aug. 31).

Meeting the media after being elected, Chan said that the Law Society of Hong Kong has an important role to play in HK society, the most important of which is to uphold the rule of law. He pointed out that the Law Society will uphold professionalism, maintain political neutrality and speak out from a legal perspective on social issues without bias.

Chan said that the country is actively promoting the Greater Bay Area development, stressing that HK plays an important role in the National 14th Five-Year Plan and is an important arbitration center in the Asia-Pacific region.
