Seminar held to mark first anniversary of national security law in HK

A seminar is being held on Friday (July 16) morning by the Chinese Association of Hong Kong & Macao Studies to mark the first anniversary of the enactment of the National Security Law (NSL) for HK.

Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR Luo Huining, Chief Secretary for Administration John Lee Ka-chiu, Secretary for Finance Paul Chan Mo-po, Secretary for Justice Teresa Cheng Yeuk-wah, Secretary for Security Chris Tang Bing-keung and Deputy Director of the Basic Law Committee Maria Tam Wai-chu, among others, are present at the event venue in HK.

The seminar is being held in Beijing, HK and Macao simultaneously. Xia Baolong, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Director of the HK and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, will also give a speech on the implementation of the NSL in HK, and he may also touch on issues such as the oath-taking arrangements and qualification of District Council members, a source familiar with the matter said.
