China a champion of peaceful use of outer space: National aerospace heavyweights

A team of scientists from major national space projects arrived in Hong Kong on Tuesday (June 22) for a five-day visit and exchange activities. Answering a question from DotDotNews, Hu Hao, chief designer of China's third-phase lunar exploration project, said that China has always been an advocate of the peaceful use of outer space.

Citing examples of China's lunar exploration projects, Hu indicated that the China National Space Administration has long been promoting international cooperation in space programs. He mentioned that in the Chang'e-4 project, the communications relay satellite, orbiting microsatellite, lander and rover each carry scientific payloads supplied by international partners.

Hu also referred to the International Lunar Research Station, which will be co-constructed by China and Russia as well as other international partners.

Adding on to Hu's points, Zhao Xiaojin, Party chief of the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), said that in terms of international cooperation China has always adhered to the strategic principle of opening up and integration. (DotDotNews)

Zhao said that the CAST has exported around 20 satellites, including relay satellites and remote sensing ones, to various countries across the world.

Zhao also referred to the concept of "a community with a shared future for mankind" as proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, which also applies to the field of space exploration, saying that China has provided help to other countries in terms of space technology transfer and talent training.
