In 1927, three major uprisings were launched one after another, namely Nanchang Uprising, Autumn Harvest Uprising and Guangzhou Uprising, which marked the time when the Communist Party of China (CPC) began to thrive.
The uprisings were, however, defeated after the enemies took the offensive. The leaders of the Communist Party, including Zhou Enlai and Nie Rongzhen, had to head south to HK to take refuge, and that was when HK played a vital role in preserving the fire of the Communist revolution.
