'The milking of human kindness': Western propaganda and the 'demonising' of China..

From the hugely respected Andre Vltchek, Jul 08, 2020:

"Western, particularly British and the US demagogy, have managed to reach 'heights' of deadly perfection. Already they've conditioned billions of brains, in all corners of the world into a servile way of thinking. All this is not just propaganda anymore; it is the true art of indoctrination. It hardly ever misses its target. And even if it fails to convince some strong individuals completely, it always leaves a mark on the psyche. In short: Western propaganda is perfect. Deadly. Until now, it's been bulletproof."

'The milk of human kindness'

The phrase was coined, like so many, by 'Shakespeare', in Macbeth (1:5), Lady Macbeth complains that her husband "is too full of the milk of human kindness" to kill his rivals. But soft, what light through yonder window breaks?

So what does propaganda feed on? Fear, Avarice. Greed, Insecurity, Human compassion: 'the milk of human kindness' – it works at a deep emotional level, at a primal level.. and when used for manipulation of people, to serve vested, corporate interest, it is milking these emotions and the responses elicited – milking human kindness, and 'milking' humankind indeed..

                                                                        — ChinaBazzar

Nobody's perfect, sometimes, we make mistakes. A recent 'exchange' between a 'researcher' at the ASPI – the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, and myself highlighted to me what I feel to be a fundamental issue facing humanity, especially in light of the constant 'drip-feed, barrage even, of anti–China propaganda being regurgitated and spewed out by the dribbling collective stenographer mouthpieces of the western msm.

'At first, I was taken aback, astonished in fact that ASPI had taken the time to trawl through more than eight years of my Twitter timeline, (dang! they don't seem to have much to do eh?) – until they found something that they felt was 'incriminating' enough to publicly 'throw back' at me. But after pondering, I then realised this had, in fact, revealed something rather precious...'

                                                                        — ChinaBazzar

"Booyah? White whale? Really? #Twit. So, you found a post I regurgitated years ago, before I'd researched this properly and fully. Amazing. And? Now I HAVE researched, and my understanding is far more complete about the actual #Facts of the past and present in #Tibet and #Xinjiang" — ChinaBazzar

So. What the MIC funded ASPI found, was that 8 years ago was that I once tweeted something, (retweeted most likely), in support of what I thought at the time to be a 'just cause', that is to say the 'Free Tibet' thing. How misguided I was..

But here's the thing: the ASPI provided impetus for me to reflect, understand, and thence highlight just how easy it is to get completely taken in and fooled by western propaganda and agitprop when your human compassion is prodded.

The milking of human kindness indeed. Yes. It happened to me too. And I thought I knew enough. Clearly I did not. I know enough now to know I was wrong, mistaken, misled, duped.

So. Yes, 8 years ago, I quoted, verbatim, actually just 'retweeted', something I'd picked up from western mainstream media, (msm) some propaganda, about so-called 'human rights violations' against Tibet etc, without fully checking, verifying or understanding the facts.

For my own part, yes, in the past I was taken in, duped, fooled, by the western propaganda playing on my natural human compassion for the 'plight of the oppressed', my indignance on behalf of people suffering human rights abuses.. But. I hadn't checked to see if what I was regurgitating was actually true. Now I know it wasn't true. it was a lie. See: /bestchinainfo.com/guest-posts/tibet-the-dalai-lama-feudalism-slavery-and-the-great-game/

After my initial horror that I had, (quite obviously to me now), been well and truly duped by the western msm, came the realisation, that if I could be so easily duped, so could, and can, millions of other people who, in other circumstances, one could call, logical, conscientious, decent people with no 'axe to grind', no vengeful agenda needing 'outlet''.

                                                             — ChinaBazzar

So. 'How could I have been fooled by western propaganda about Tibet'? (To be fooled or not to be fooled.. that is the question..) Well, the same way everyone else gets fooled. We don't take the time to check facts, verify the veracity of information. We take as 'gospel' that what the msm and US UK governments tell us is the truth. Factual. Iraq was all but destroyed and hundreds of thousands of innocent lives lost on the basis of.. some pictures of.. trucks.. buildings.. white powder..

'WMD': Weapons of Mass Delusion.

It's clear to see exactly the same 'methodology', technique, or to be more precise; 'flim-flam' being used again by ASPI in the same way that Bellingcat do; Bellingcat, by the way, have been proven to be abject liars; a disinformation propaganda operation many times) Dang.. are 'they' so unimaginative and short of ideas that this is the best 'they' can come up with? And are people so easily fooled that they believe it? Unfortunately, yes.

Background: There are kindred spirits that have, and will continue, to take certain 'entities' to task on misrepresentation of facts, downright make-believe, and outright dirty lies on Xinjiang, the 'Uyghur issue, and other matters in China, and around the world; from the BBC to theGuardian and TheEconomist, from Bellingcat to ASPI.. Recently, One of these was the ASPI, and a 'researcher' for them, Nathan Ruser – (@Nrg8000 on twitter) the Australian Strategic Policy Institute.

N.B. ASPI, just like 'Bellingcat' – are funded by the US propaganda operation known as the NED, the UK government and 'big names' in armament sales and weapons manufacture: Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, Northrop Grumman, Thales, Raytheon etc.

The agenda of ASPI is clear – demonise China – create an 'enemy', continue to create profit from 'necessary military build'-up in the name of 'defence' against the 'enemy'. (Read Orwell's 1984 lately?!)

So, to clarify: For NED, CIA, Arms corporations: Read: the 'MIC – the Military Industrial Complex that Eisenhower warned the world about in his farewell address.

A quote from ASPI:

"ASPI's International Cyber Policy Centre (ICPC) is a leading voice.. blah.. The centre has a growing mixture of expertise and skills with teams of researchers who concentrate on policy, technical analysis, information operations and disinformation… satellite analysis.. surveillance and China-related issues." 'Nuff said?

MIC ASPI T.W.A.T PNAC MSM 1066 2001 2003 and all that..

Now I look back at this with some regret; I saw straight through the illegal #US UK led war on and invasion of Iraq in 2003, from the moment two (three) steel-frame buildings were demolished, (N.B. steel frame buildings don't totally collapse neatly through fire..) in 2001 in New York I knew what game was afoot; The War Against Terror – or T.W.A.T for short – George.W.Bush' initial phrase for the (well laid out and still viewable) PNAC plans for the anglozionist takeover of the MENA:

I say 'initial phrase' because I had pointed out the acronym TWAT in the Guardian and it was swiftly changed to The War ON Terror.. ;>

Propaganda: Take a proper gander..

Propaganda modern Latin word, propagare, meaning to spread or to propagate, that which is to be propagated. Originally derived from a new admin body of the Catholic Church circa 1622 aimed at "propagating" the Catholic faith in non-Catholic countries.

The term began taking on a negative connotation in the mid-19th century, when it was used in the political sphere.

From wikipedia.org/wiki/

'The manipulation of the American mind:

Edward Bernays and the birth of 'public relations'

From: https://theconversation.com

Edward Bernays pioneered public relations

Often referred to as "the father of public relations," Bernays in 1928 published his seminal work,

Propaganda, in which he argued that public relations is not a gimmick but a necessity:

The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organised habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our minds are moulded, our tastes formed, and our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of…. It is they who pull the wires that control the public mind.

Edward Bernays' landmark book. chrisch_, CC BY-NC

Bernays came by his beliefs honestly. Born in Austria in 1891, the year Sigmund Freud published one of his earliest papers, Bernays was also Freud's nephew twice over. His mother was Freud's sister Anna, and his father, Ely Bernays, was the brother of Freud's wife Martha.

'Bernays ..eventually helping the Woodrow Wilson Administration promote the idea that US efforts in World War I were intended to bring democracy to Europe…'

Bernays rebrands 'propaganda'

Having seen how effective propaganda could be during war, Bernays wondered whether it might prove equally useful during peacetime.

Yet propaganda had acquired a somewhat pejorative connotation (which would be further magnified during World War II), so Bernays promoted the term "public relations."

Drawing on the insights of his Uncle Sigmund – a relationship Bernays was always quick to mention – he developed an approach he dubbed "the engineering of consent." He provided leaders the means to "control and regiment the masses according to our will without their knowing about it." To do so, it was necessary to appeal not to the rational part of the mind, but the unconscious.

Bernays' ideas sold more than cigarettes and cups: Bernays also used fear to sell products. For Dixie cups, Bernays launched a campaign to scare people into thinking that only disposable cups were sanitary. As part of this campaign, he founded the Committee for the Study and Promotion of the Sanitary Dispensing of Food and Drink.

Even though Bernays saw the power of propaganda during war and used it to sell products during peacetime, he couldn't have imagined that his writings on public relations would be tools of the Third Reich.

In the 1920s, Joseph Goebbels became an avid admirer of Bernays and his writings – despite the fact that Bernays was a Jew. When Goebbels became the minister of propaganda for the Third Reich, he sought to exploit Bernays' ideas to the fullest extent possible. He created a "Fuhrer cult" around Adolph Hitler.

Bernays learned that the Nazis were using his work in 1933 – He later recounted in his 1965 autobiography:

They were using my books as the basis for a destructive campaign against the Jews of Germany. This shocked me, but I knew any human activity can be used for social purposes or misused for antisocial ones.

                                                                                — Edward Bernays

What Bernays' writings furnish is not a principle or tradition by which to evaluate the appropriateness of propaganda, but simply a means for shaping public opinion for any purpose whatsoever, whether beneficial to human beings or not.

' Hermann Göring: Why, of course, the people don't want war. Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship.

Gilbert: There is one difference. In a democracy, the people have some say in the matter through their elected representatives, and in the United States only Congress can declare wars. (hmm..)

Göring: Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.

Hermann Wilhelm Göring, also rendered as Goering (12 January 1893 – 15 October 1946), was a German politician, military leader and leading member of the Nazi Party. Founder of the Gestapo and the head of the Luftwaffe.

From https://en.wikiquote.org/

From: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demonizing_the_enemy: Demonising the enemy, Demonisation of the enemy or Dehumanisation of the enemy[1] is a propaganda technique which promotes an idea about the enemy being a threatening, evil aggressor with only destructive objectives.[2] Demonisation is the oldest propaganda technique aimed to inspire hatred toward the enemy necessary to hurt them more easily, to preserve and mobilise allies and demoralise the enemy.

The demonisation of the enemy has been routinely conducted throughout the history. 'Demonisation of the enemy (first enemy leaders and later enemy individuals) became a predictable pattern followed by Western media, the final stage being atrocities.'[6]

I hold it to a sign of great prudence in men to refrain alike from threats and from the use of insulting language, for neither of these things deprives the enemy of his power, but the first puts him more on his guard, while the other intensifies his hatred of you and makes him more industrious in devising means to harm you.— Niccolò Machiavelli

The portrayal of one's enemy as demonic has often led to the treatment of the whole population or political apparatus associated with the enemy group or leader as equally demonic. This also often results in a tendency to reduce an enemy's more complex motives to simple promotion of pure evil.

Eisenhower's farewell address, January 17, 1961.

President of the United States (and five-star general during World War II) Dwight D. Eisenhower used the term in his Farewell Address to the Nation on January 17, 1961[12]:

"This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence—economic, political, even spiritual—is felt in every city, every statehouse, every office of the federal government. In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military–industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists, and will persist."

Edward Bernays Guatemala Regime Change and Bananas: History will teach us nothing?

Potted propaganda section; read more, have a proper gander: History will teach us nothing. If we don't know it., or if we've 'been fed' and 'swallowed' a false version..

Bernays Guatemala Regime Change Bananas

From wikipedia: The United Fruit Company (today's Chiquita Brands International) hired Bernays in the early 1940s for the purpose of promoting banana sales within the United States.

Bernays worked on the national press and successfully drummed up coverage of Guatemala's Communist menace. The company became alarmed about the political situation in Guatemala after Jacobo Árbenz Guzman became president in March 1951. On March 21, 1951,

Bernays told United Fruit's head of publicity, Edmund Whitman, that Guatemala could reprise Iran's recent nationalisation of British Petroleum (BP):

'We recommend that immediate steps be undertaken to safeguard American business interests in Latin American countries against comparable action there. News knows no boundaries today. . . . '

(Or morals, apparently) .

He recommended a campaign in which universities, lawyers, and the US government would all induce the President and State Department to issue a policy pronouncement comparable to the Monroe Doctrine concerning expropriation." The New York Times, the New York Herald Tribune, Time, Newsweek, and the Atlantic Monthly had all published articles describing the threat of Communism in Guatemala.

A Bernays memo in July 1951 recommended that this wave of media attention should be translated into action by promoting: (a) a change in present U.S. ambassadorial and consular representation, (b) the imposition of congressional sanctions in this country against government aid to pro-Communist regimes, (c) U.S. government subsidising of research by 'disinterested groups' like the Brookings Institution into various phases of the problem.[53]

Per Bernays's strategy, United Fruit distributed favorable articles and an anonymous Report on Guatemala to every member of Congress and to national "opinion molders". They also published a weekly Guatemala Newsletter and sent it to 250 journalists, some of whom used it as a source for their reporting.

(Ring any bells? Hong Kong, Reuters – Uyghurs – Xinjiang)

In January 1952 he brought a cohort of journalists from various notable newspapers on a tour of Guatemala, sponsored by the company. This technique proved highly effective and was repeated four more times. In June, 1954, the US Central Intelligence Agency effected a coup d'état code-named Operation PBSuccess. The CIA backed a minimal military force, fronted by Carlos Castillo Armas, with a psychological warfare campaign to portray military defeat as a foregone conclusion. During the coup itself, Bernays was the primary supplier of information for the international newswires Associated Press, United Press International and the International News Service.

Following the coup, Bernays built up the image of Guatemala's new president Carlos Castillo Armas, giving advice for his public appearances both in Guatemala and in the US. In 1956, Bernays produced a pamphlet comparing the Communist way and the Christian way.

In 1959, United Fruit dispensed with all external advisors including Bernays

'Bad things happen when good people do nothing.'

China is now the main engine driving the world economy (See Angus Maddison and Chinese economic performance in the long run) The One Belt One Road Initiative 'BRI' will ensure the well-being of many nations in Eurasia for the foreseeable future.

The US and UK governments are attempting to maintain their hegemony by trying to curtail China's rise: the trade War, hybrid war, and military build-up attempting to encircle China (see John Pilger), bolstered with the bluster of the constant anti- China narrative being promulgated in the west.

How should China proceed? Riposte? Should China counter every attack? Parry every blow? Probably

Very pertinent and worthwhile viewing from Adam Curtis: https://www.youtube.com The Century of the Self – Part 1: "Happiness Machines" The story of Sigmund Freud's nephew; Edward Bernays, father of modern 'propaganda' – or Public Relations, as it's now known, the art of keying into and thence, manipulating, the instinctual, subconscious drives in mankind.

"The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organised habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society.

Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our minds are moulded, our tastes formed, and our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of…. It is they who pull the wires that control the public mind."

So, what should I do, any of us? Check facts first! Verify! Go to the root of a 'story'. Understand the agendas. Counter, parry and riposte! Then try to increase human understanding, real communication, understanding of China, Chinese people, the Chinese 'mindset'; Try to counter the negative propaganda that, if left unchecked, could see the worst of consequences for all of humanity.

I don't need to believe, I know this: China is not your enemy! China's goal

is not world domination, that's soo last millennium darlings, so passé, the page we're on now is world unification, working together for a shared future ~ Unity.

I don't need to believe, I know this: The People of China, the Peoples Republic of China and The Chinese Communist Party, who work for the people, have the best interests of the Chinese people, of the world, and of humanity, at heart – this is the Chinese way; Unity, family, friendship, peaceful co-existence.

I don't need to believe, I know this: China's 'vested interest' is not corporate, nor avaricious, but one of mutual beneficence, unity and peace – the Chinese mindset is mutual cooperation and mutual benefit;

'We're all in this together' – Let's pull together!'

Footnote: "One is reassured by the breathtaking incompetence of such 'advertising/agitprop agencies' as ASPI – Australian Strategic Policy Institute and Bellingcat – The fact that so-called 'big players' of arms corporations fund these clowns to conduct anything above the level of tea making is.. erm.. how shall we say.. most comforting.. ;>

The West HAS to have 'an enemy'; This, in my opinion has been the cornerstone of 'western governance', since Roman times, the ideology of Hegemony, coupled with 'Divide and Conquer' and all that..

'World Domination' and all that guff.. dang.. 'world domination',

it's just so passé dahlink.. sooo last millennium..

Now, Unification.. that's where it's at..

China is quite the opposite. 'Me' becomes 'We' ~ Unity.

Aggression is NOT in the Chinese nature.

These Chinese children are not being trained to attack. As part of their physical exercise they are taught how to defend self + country. Anyone who thinks otherwise simply does not understand China or Chinese people. Chinese people are ready to defend. Always. They're fit, smart, mobile and prepared, from infancy to old age. They will DEFEND China, as will I.

To reiterate: China is NOT interested in attacking anyone!

'Bad things happen when good people do nothing'

'The Game'

Well, of course, 'the game' is rhetoric, as used for propaganda purposes. As comrade Vltchek so rightly stated, the UK US MIC 'machine' are masters at this. Especially as regards 'spinning' world opinion against China, Russia, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Iran, Venezuela, etc.

"By establishing a baseline lie and painting the enemy as a monster, atrocity propaganda serves as an intelligence function, since it wastes the time and resources of the enemy counterintelligence services to defend itself. Atrocity propaganda can either be white, gray, or black. Atrocity propaganda is often white, as it makes no attempt to hide its source and is overt in nature. The propagandists' goal is to influence perceptions, attitudes, opinions, and policies; often targeting officials at all levels of government. Atrocity propaganda is violent, gloomy, and portrays doom to help rile up and get the public excited. It dehumanizes the enemy, making them easier to kill. from wikipedia

Understanding how to play 'this game' is crucial. The key phrase here: Understanding how to play 'the game'. Whether there is any truth in the aforementioned rhetoric or not, is not the important issue.

Neither is disproving or countering false accusations.

The rhetoric has already left it's mark on the psyche of the masses. The goal of the rhetoric has already been achieved. The target has been hit. No matter what refutation or counter-argument is issued as retort after the fact, it matters not. Their 'arrow' already left a barb in the minds of the masses.
